Description
In 2003 singer and composer Gavin Friday along with his musical collaborator Maurice Seezer created the first Irish adaptation of Sergei Prokofiev’s classic ‘Peter and the Wolf’. A CD box set was created accompanied by a 64-page cloth-bound book illustrated by U2’s Bono and his daughters Jordan and Eve.
The book was officially launched on October 1 2003.The original art work by Bono, with canvases up to 20 foot long went on an exhibition tour of three countries. The exhibitions took place in;
City Hall, Dublin – 1st-3rd October 2003
Christie’s, London – 6th -8th October 2003
Christie’s, Los Angeles – 13th -15th October 2003
Christie’s, New York – 20th-21st November 2003The artwork was auctioned by Christie’s New York on November 21 2003.
The project raised €850,000 for the Irish Hospice Foundation between 2003 – 2005
